Message to investors: Update your profile to continue investing in BeeBonds campaigns

Update your profile

BeeBonds has obtained ECSP (European Crowdfunding Service Providers) accreditation.

Therefore, to continue investing in BeeBonds campaigns, investors must update their investor profile.

Why should investors update their BeeBonds investor profile?

These new rules are a positive step towards greater protection and harmonisation of crowdlending procedures across Europe.

They aim to eliminate any legal ambiguity and ensure that your investments are managed in the most secure and efficient way possible.

Both existing and new investors are invited to take the "new version" experience and knowledge test before making any new investment on our platform.

Informed or Uninformed Investor: what's your profile?

The legislation distinguishes between two categories of investor:

1. Well-informed investors

A well-informed investor is one who is aware of the risks associated with capital market investments and who has sufficient resources to assume these risks without exposing himself to excessive financial consequences.

An informed investor may be an individual, a legal entity or a professional client.

Informed investors must meet certain criteria precisely defined by European regulations. Recognition of this status is not automatic and must be applied for in accordance with the conditions laid down for this purpose on our platform.

In short, this category of investors does not benefit from the protection offered to non-informed investors in terms of limits on the amounts to be invested and pre-contractual cooling-off periods.

2. Uninformed" investors.

Non-sophisticated" investors are all other investors (not recognised as sophisticated investors).

The amount that unsophisticated investors can invest per campaign depends on whether or not they pass the experience and knowledge test.

The experience and knowledge test: an important step for all investors

One of the key elements of the European regulations applicable to participative financing is the requirement for you to pass an experience and knowledge test that determines your investor profile and, by extension, your investment limit per project.

Before taking the test, we advise you to carefully read our article outlining some key concepts to know about investing in crowdlending on BeeBonds.

Here's what this means for you:

  • If you choose not to take the test, your investment will be limited to €1,000 per project.
  • If you pass the test, you will have no investment limit.
  • If you fail the test, don't panic:
    • You can do it 3 times in a row and then month after month;
    • Until you have passed the test, for each investment you will be limited to either €1,000 or 5% of your net assets (whichever is greater).
    • A tool is available on the platform enabling you to calculate your net assets if you wish. Your investment limit will be defined on the basis of 5% of this amount.

What information should be communicated?

To complete the knowledge and experience test, you will be asked to answer questions on :

  • Your personal situation
  • Your knowledge
  • Your investment goals

You will be invited, only if you wish, to simulate your ability to bear losses (the information you provide will remain confidential and will only be used to set your investment limit).
